Monday's agriculture article: Grow Better Veggies

In the quest for finding information on how to grow a winter garden, I found the Grow Better Veggies blog, written by Cynthia Sandberg. I was impressed the amount of information she shares on her site and found it to include details on a variety of different topics, especially year round vegetable gardening. Her farm, Love Apple Farm (@loveapplefarm) provides produce for a local restaurant, and Cynthia also conducts workshops for small children to teach them more about food and farming.

Spring is here and there's much to do and enjoy outdoors. Farming and gardening is something that has been a part of my entire life. Even though I have limited time and space to have a large garden, I still enjoy growing my own herbs and vegetables when and where I can. Today's agriculture article of interest is Container Vegetable Gardening. It is a brief article detailing how to grow vegetables in pots and plants and which ones are best suited for that situation. (I planted my pepper, tomato plant and herbs this past weekend.) Happy gardening!

Today's agriculture focused website of interest to share with the group is a blog of "Gardening Articles". As much as I like being outside, I'm really not good with plants or gardens, but I'm always willing to learn. What I like most about the articles on this site is that they're geared towards people like me; people with small spaces, inexperience and not necessarily a lot of time. The site is maintained by the company "Mini Greenhouse Kits", which also sells greenhouse, gardening and compost accessories.

Monday's agriculture website of interest: HOW TO CREATE A COMPOST PILE

As people are becoming more aware of their actions on the environment, they are looking for ways to "reduce, reuse and recycle." Today's website of agricultural interest is the EPA's page on How to create your own compost pile. The finished compost, in turn, can be used in flower beds and potted plants to provide nutrients.
