Thanks for the post! To share more information with readers, we are a nonprofit organization that, over the last decade, has spearheaded a Local Food Campaign to support people throughout the Southern Appalachian region in reconnecting to the way that food is grown and to the farmers that are growing it. The campaign provides consumers with the Local Food Guide, a free print and online directory of the area’s family farms, farmers tailgate markets, and businesses that use local agricultural products.
We also clearly identify and define “local” in our region through our Appalachian Grown™ branding and labeling program, as well as organize one of Asheville, NC's farmers markets: the Asheville City Market. We hope you'll visit our website to learn more about our work, or call 828-236-1282. Please also search our online Local Food Guide at www.buyappalachian.org!
Maggie,
It's a great project and a wonderful thing you're doing for the community. Happy to share with others!
