Today's agriculture themed website of interest to followers is "Life on a Cattle Ranch", written by Kansas beef rancher, Debbie Lyons-Blythe. Debbie and her husband Duane Blythe are raising five teenagers and 500 head of cattle on a ranch in Kansas. Debbie posts to her blog weekly to share with people around the world what life is like in rural Kansas and how her family works every day to ensure a safe, nutritious supply of beef to consumers.

Today's agricultural website of interest is the Meat is Neat blog, maintained by meat scientist, Dr. Chris Raines. Chris is the Extension Meats Specialist and is an Assistant Professor at Penn State University in the Department of Dairy & Animal Science. He researches factors that affect meat quality, and helps meat processors, large and small, national and local, with the quality and safety of the food they produce.

The Meat is Neat blog follows his experiences and thoughts about meat as food – where it comes from, how it’s produced, how people consume it, and the health implications of it. Some entries may be highly technical, and others may be total stream-of-consciousness. Some entries might address hot-button topics facing meat today, while other entries might address long-term ideas or speculative ideas about meat in the future.

In celebration of "May is Beef Month," I chose to link to the Beef, It's What's For Dinner website today. This site is funded with money from cattle producers nationwide to provide the public with information about beef and the cattle industry. The site explains how to shop for beef, including information on the different cuts available. The site also includes recipes on preparing beef, even for those on a special diet.
